It is important to all law enforcement officers to have protection at all times. This means being able to carry their concealed weapon firearm off-duty anywhere. It also means on-duty in some circumstances.
Some States and county and city level governments do not allow for sworn officers to carry their weapons when off duty. This is a hazard and an unsafe practice when a sworn officer has been given the privilege to protect and defend others by carrying a sidearm and when that officer is alone and off duty, if they travel to various destinations, they could be in violation of the law because those areas of government do not recognize them or allow them to have a weapon on their person.
This needs to change. The NRLEA supports any law that would allow for any sworn officer when off duty or otherwise while being out of their city and/or general area of work to be allowed to carry a concealed weapon of their choice having been qualified to carry it.
The protection of all law enforcement officers throughout the nation is important and vital for the comfort and peace of mind of the officers and of their families. Let’s get this support now.
